Day 65: Chinese Takeout

If I could turn back time, I would do it every day.

Honestly, juggling a full time job, gym sessions, blogging, and a long commute leaves barely any time for healthy meal planning. There are easy ways around this, like buying a rotisserie chicken and a bag of leafy greens. Another shortcut is steaming vegetables and baking fish.

And the come times like tonight, when the thought of preparation and clean-up are too much for me. On my way out of the gym, I punched in the number for China Chef.

I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not a cheater. Not even close. So get those visions of noodles, fried food and sugary sauces out of your mind. There IS clean Chinese food, and you can get it anywhere.

Steamed vegetables

Most vegetables in Chinese food are steamed before being drowned in unhealthy sauces. Who says they need sauce? Just ask for steamed veggies.

Sauteed chicken and beef

There’s no rule saying that meat needs to be fried or doused in sauce. It’s tasty with healthy preparation.

Shrimp and prawns

You can usually order these steamed with the vegetables.

Peppers

No need for food to be bland. Chinese cuisine uses a lot of peppers- you can easily season your food.
