Day 34: The Neon Splash Dash

Me: I completely forgot to talk about the Neon Splash Dash on Skinny 365!

Tabs: That’s ok. We did that BEFORE you started your blog.

Me: Well I was fat BEFORE I started my blog, and I talk about THAT!

So here I go, backtracking to before the blog existed to my first 5K…

It was a dark and neon night…

Actually, it wasn’t really dark, considering all of the glow-in-the-dark paint and neon lights. The Neon Splash Dash is a touring 5K that stopped in Chandler, Arizona at the Wild Horse Pass Casino  race track on October 20, 2012. The “race” begins after dark and

has 4 stops where you get blasted with loud music and soaked with neon paint. At the end there’s a big party.

You enter the race wearing a white shirt and funny costume like every other normal person, and it’s all fun and game until the Splash Dash spits you out looking like us at the right. I have a squinted problem in pictures- even at night. I’m working on it, but in the meantime, I just look dumb.

Being clumsy, I wish they would have lit the entire track and played music the entire time. But those are my only complaints.  What I really wasn’t expecting was the large number of families who came out for the event.

It’s really not paint they spray at you, it’s “glow water”. It’s really easy to wash out of everywhere except he inner ear. Seriously, I’m pretty thorough about that kind of stuff and I had pink paint coming out of my ear for 2 weeks after the dash.

Interested? Look for Groupons a few weeks before the Neon Splash Dash comes to town. Instead of paying $60, I paid half price for my ticket. Best way to be active and have fun at the same time!
